Overview to CMMI (Version 1.3)

Course Overview

The SEI CMMI® is a model based on the best practices of many organizations. Learning the model with respect to your environment will maximize your understanding and enable you to find solutions within it. To increase the speed of implementation, a common understanding across the organization must be maintained to reduce complexities arising from inconsistencies in implementation due to differences in points of view. This course was designed to focus on the minimum information required at the beginning to move quickly into implementation.

Participants will first be taught the fundamentals of CMMI. You will also learn about the process categories and each process area. In addition to the explanation of all process areas, you will learn about the relationships between process areas and also see how each process area and its practices can solve your typical engineering and management problems. You will then be shown how to map your current practice to the model to use it to identify opportunities for improvement, tailor the model to your environment and maintain a consistent understanding as an organization.
